  • Our Mission and Values

Orchard Therapeutic Care Supported Living provides safe, semi-independent homes and 24-hour supervised support for Looked After Children and Care Leavers aged 16 and over. Our focus is on walking alongside young people as they move into adulthood, offering personalised guidance that builds confidence, resilience and life skills. By equipping each individual with the tools and support they need, we give them the best chance to thrive on their journey towards independence.

Beyond housing, we offer access to our therapeutic farm — a unique space where education, wellbeing and personal growth come together. Here, young people can benefit from alternative learning provision, therapeutic activities, and the proven restorative effects of nature and animal care. The farm is at the heart of our holistic approach, providing opportunities for healing, skill-building and education in a safe, nurturing environment.

    Our Mission

At Orchard Therapeutic Care, our mission is simple yet powerful: to change young people’s lives for the better. We believe every child deserves more than just a roof over their head — they deserve a safe, nurturing home where they feel supported and valued.

We are dedicated to providing not only secure housing but also access to education, training and therapeutic support. By combining stability with opportunity, we help young people build confidence, develop essential life skills and move towards independent, fulfilling futures.

    Our Purpose

At Orchard Therapeutic Care, our purpose is to change children’s lives for the better, guided by strong values. We believe every child in England and Wales deserves quality housing and a true place to call home. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where young people can live independently, surrounded by care and support.

We are committed to ensuring that every child has access to education or training, empowering them with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. By providing both a stable home and educational opportunities, we aim to equip young people with the tools to build fulfilling lives.

    Our Values

Our core values are the bedrock of our work, driving our commitment to create a positive and transformative environment for the young lives we nurture and support. By upholding these values, we create an environment where young people can flourish, gaining the confidence and resilience they need to face the future with optimism and strength.

    EXPLORE

We give children and young people the space and support to discover who they are, what they enjoy and what matters to them. Through everyday experiences, new activities and time in the community, we encourage curiosity and help them build confidence at their own pace. Exploring might mean trying a new hobby, visiting somewhere unfamiliar or finding a way to express a difficult feeling. With trusted adults alongside them, children can try new things, understand boundaries and learn to make choices that keep themselves and others safe.

    ENGAGE

Meaningful engagement starts with feeling safe, understood and valued. We take time to build trusting relationships, getting to know each child’s interests, experiences and ways of communicating. Through shared activities, everyday routines and conversations, we help children connect with the people and opportunities around them. We support them to take part in their care, education and community, recognising that progress looks different for everyone. Every contribution matters, whether it’s joining an activity, asking for help or beginning to trust someone new.

    EMPOWER

We help children and young people recognise their strengths, have a voice and build confidence in their own decisions. This means listening to their views, taking their wishes seriously and involving them in choices about their care and future. With support suited to their needs, they can develop practical skills, take on responsibilities and work towards goals that matter to them. We celebrate progress and help them work through setbacks, building the self-belief and independence to take their next steps.
