Independence doesn’t mean being on your own. The relationships you build and keep — with former carers, trusted professionals, mentors, friends, or community groups — are a big part of feeling supported and confident as you move forward.
Being connected also means less isolation. Online communities created for care-experienced people can give you space to share experiences and find encouragement from others who understand.
It’s important to keep contacts safe and close. Save key numbers in your phone, but also write them down somewhere secure so you always have them when you need them.
At Orchard Therapeutic Outreach, we’ll help you map out your support network, connect with safe people and groups, and make sure you feel confident managing your online and offline connections.
